The Safety Coordinator will primarily be responsible for ensuring a safe work environment at a Power Plant's sites. The role involves actively working in the field, observing employees and contractors, identifying and correcting safety hazards, and supporting the implementation of safety procedures. This individual will be part of a team and work closely with another safety professional who will handle the majority of the paperwork and reporting tasks. The primary focus of the role is field oversight, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and promoting a culture of safety on-site. (LOCAL CANDIDATES - NO PER DIEM)
Key Responsibilities:
· Actively monitor and oversee the safety practices of employees and contractors performing work on-site.
· Perform regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
· Identify unsafe work conditions or practices, intervene to correct hazards, and escalate as needed.
· Assist with the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans, including emergency evacuation, fire, medical, and rescue protocols.
· Conduct safety briefings, and training sessions for employees and contractors as required.
· Maintain a strong presence in the field, serving as a resource and point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns.
Qualifications:
· Must have OSHA 30 certification.
· At least 2-3 years of experience in safety, preferably in industrial or power plant settings.
· Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
· Ability to identify hazards in the field and proactively correct unsafe conditions.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise feedback to contractors and workers.
· First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
· Strong organizational skills with a focus on fieldwork rather than office tasks.
· Previous safety experience at a power plant or industrial site oversight.
