Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with the Senior Manager of Professional Development to assist in the design and execution of attorney onboarding initiatives. Tasks include drafting welcome communications, creating orientation schedules, and arranging key logistics for efficient attorney integration.
• Foster collaboration with various administrative departments and practice groups within the firm to ensure an effective and smooth onboarding and orientation process for all new associates.
• Manage the arrival and departure processes for associates using Workday, ensuring the streamlined execution of hiring and termination activities.
• Independently monitor and document integration and development milestones for legal staff, including, tracking onboarding check-ins, development discussions, and readiness for promotion. Keeping precise records of practice group assignments, group leader and mentor assignments, and any role changes.
• Handle advance payment submissions for incoming associates, guaranteeing accurate and timely processing.
• Work closely with the Director of Attorney & Alumni Relations on bar renewal, immigration and alumni matters including administering D.C. Bar payments, diligently tracking bar membership statuses for all attorneys, coordinating the annual DC Bar renewal process, assisting with immigration and visa details for current and prospective firm lawyers, and assisting with research for updating alumni information and conducting searches in the alumni database.
• Coordinate efforts related to Professional Development initiatives, such as arrival and departure announcements, CovNet pages, development roadmaps, and orientation tools.
• Assist with the associate mentoring program by coordinating welcome lunches and aiding in strategic mentor-mentee pairings.
• Coordinate efforts with other offices on the preparation and distribution of monthly mentoring topics and reminders.
• Facilitate the planning of meetings, social events, and other programs aimed at enhancing engagement and collaboration within the firm.
• Assist in compiling data and reports regarding performance trends, utilization, and staffing patterns.
• Provide support to the Sr. Director of Professional Development with administrative matters and special projects as assigned.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Uphold high standards of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity, particularly with respect to all sensitive and/or confidential firm and client information to which this position will have access.
Qualifications:
• A 4-year degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 2 or more years work experience, preferably with a service orientation; within a law firm a plus.
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail, as well as ability to work well under pressure with frequent interruptions and to prioritize tasks.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills; strong interpersonal skills to facilitate successful relationships with firm lawyers and staff.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint required. Previous Workday and/or ViRecruit experience a plus.
