Job Description

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate probate court filings and recordings, including research and familiarity with local rules and probate court
  • Prepare probate administration paperwork, including administration accounts, court petitions, orders, deeds, certifications, etc.
  • Coordinate post-death non-probate administration
  • Communicate with clients and professional advisors relating to routine acts of estate administration
  • Prepare Gift Tax, Estate Tax, and Fiduciary income tax returns.
  • Input financial data to prepare and file accountings
  • Work with clients’ financial advisors on proper titling of accounts

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience working as a trust and estate paralegal with minimal supervision
  • High school diploma or GED – Bachelors degree or paralegal certificate preferred
  • Experience in Maryland State Probate administration and knowledge of estate planning documents and concepts
  • Experience in local probate administration
  • Experience with GEMs, OneSource Estate and Trust, and CCH ProSystems platform a plus
  • Must know how to prepare gift tax, estate tax, and fiduciary income tax returns
  • Self-motivated, flexible, with exceptional follow-through skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Capable of independently managing multiple projects

Additional Information

  • Individual in this position will provide additional assistance and support as directed by their supervisor.
  • Candidate must be flexible and able to work in the office at a minimum 2-3 times a week.
  • Job may require occasional travel to the firm’s other offices
