RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a GIS Technician in Mansfield, MA. This is a full-time, contract-to-permanent hire, office-based assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation, and holidays.

Overview of YOUR role as a GIS Technician

As a GIS Technician, you will provide technical support to Designers, Engineers, and GIS Management by creating cartographic displays and maintaining spatial data for electrical assets. This entry-level role is part of a production team environment and requires collaboration, attention to detail, and adherence to quality standards and deadlines. You will work with GIS and CAD software to support engineering and construction projects while assisting in project tracking using web-based mapping tools.

As a GIS Technician YOU will:

• Prepare drawings using ESRI’s ArcMap/ArcGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other electronic drawing packages.
• Assist in creating web-based mapping tools (ArcGIS Online web apps, web maps, dashboards) for client and internal use.
• Maintain graphical features in client GIS systems such as ArcFM, Intergraph FRAMME, Smallworld, or G-Tech.
• Develop knowledge of client construction standards and utility information systems.
• Maintain drawing standards including fonts, line weights, border sheets, and naming conventions.
• Prepare documentation and reports using MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, Adobe Acrobat, and other industry software.
• Support field data collection tasks using GPS devices and post-processing methods.
• Maintain and update client GIS applications by gathering, reporting, and posting data.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

YOU are the ideal GIS Technician candidate if you have:

• A high school diploma or GED (required).
• 0–2 years of experience using GIS and/or CAD programs, preferably in the utility industry.
• Basic knowledge of GIS software, spatial concepts, and cartographic principles.
• Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS products and Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a production team environment.
• Regular and reliable attendance.

It’s a BONUS if you have:

• An Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geospatial Science, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or related field.
• GIS certification or equivalent technical experience.
• Familiarity with client-specific GIS platforms like ArcFM, FRAMME, Smallworld, or G-Tech.
• Experience implementing or managing field data collection tools and tasks.
