Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced RPG III Developer to serve as a key technical resource supporting our client's core business systems. This role will play a critical part in maintaining and enhancing AS/400 applications, building and supporting EDI integrations, and helping move data to a new ERP platform in the years ahead.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and enhance applications in RPG III on the AS/400 platform
• Gather and document business requirements
• Create and update RPG programs, scripts, and stored procedures
• Unit test and debug code before release
• Design and maintain relational databases, including tables, indexes, and relationships
• Write queries and stored procedures to pull and transform data
• Maintain existing EDI transactions, build new ones, and write interface files that load EDI data into the AS/400
• Connect applications with other systems through web services, APIs, and third-party software
• Find performance bottlenecks and tune applications for speed and efficiency
• Troubleshoot and fix software defects, system errors, and application issues to keep downtime low
• Keep technical documentation current
• Help migrate data off the AS/400 during a future ERP transition

Requirements:

• Strong experience with RPG III
• Experience with TL Ashford
• Familiarity with other AS/400 languages such as CL (Control Language) and DDS (Data Description Specifications)
• Experience with AS/400 utilities such as EDI, PRMS, Robot, ICOM400, Winspool, Esend, and Viewpoint

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field
• Experience with SEQUEL and/or DB2
• Experience with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment, ideally Infor M3 for food and beverage
