Legal Assistants
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience with the coordination of logistics for the DOH Direct Referral hearing process
Ability to work independently on multiple case hearing details
Proficient with operation of postage meter and process for sending documents by certified mail
Experience fielding incoming calls, determining the legal subject that the caller is calling about, and routing caller to appropriate attorney or refer to appropriate DOH program area
Proficient in coordinating service of legal documents
Experience with processing of invoices for process service companies
Experience working in the New York State Department of Health, Division of Legal Affairs
Knowledge of the organizational structure of Department of Health
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Works well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Able to maintain an organized work space
Reliable, efficient, and flexible
Able to work independently and effectively
Eager to learn and grow in any position
Able to work with personal and confidential information in a professional manner
Able to understand and interpret laws and other legal documents
Detail oriented, quality conscious, strong prioritizing skills, highly organized
Proficiency with the operation of Cisco telephone system
Ability to work 9:00AM-5:00PM
Ability to work overtime on short notice
