Job Description

We’re currently seeking a proactive Senior Accountant to support an upcoming project with our nonprofit client in Halifax. This is a part-time opportunity (approximately 10 hours per week, with potential variability depending on project needs) and is fully remote with flexible work hours.

This role offers the chance to join a collaborative, casual team within a purpose-driven environment. The focus is on supporting a key upcoming initiative, making it ideal for someone who enjoys project-based work and contributing to meaningful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities for the Role:

  • Full cycle accounting
  • General ledger maintenance
  • Project accounting and financial tracking 
  • Financial analysis and reporting
  • Support with budgeting and forecasting
  • Monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities
  • Assistance with the development and implementation of improved financial processes
  • Other related project-based tasks as required
Experience & Attributes for Success:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
  • 5–7 years of experience in a full cycle accounting role
  • Strong experience in project accounting; construction industry exposure is an asset
  • Experience with Financial Edge software is considered a strong asset
  • Strong proficiency with accounting systems and tools
  • Self-directed, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a flexible, part-time environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within small, project-focused teams
