Job Description:
National plaintiffs’ law firm is seeking a full-time paralegal. This position supports senior partners and works on asbestos litigation. The role focuses on filing and amending complaints, filing and tracking discovery, filing and tracking motions, and all aspects of case administration.
Sample Position Responsibilities:
• File and amend complaints
• File discovery responses
• Coordinate deposition calendaring
• Draft and file deposition notices
• Case coordination and communication with other departments within the firm
• Calculate and advise of deadlines for any motions filed by defense
• File motions
• Calendar motion responses
• Prepare exhibits
• Additional administrative tasks include, scheduling appointments/depositions, arranging travel plans.
Position Requirements:
• Excellent typing, interpersonal, organizational and phone skills
• Attention to detail
• Flexibility
• Overtime likely at times
• Proficiency with Excel, Word and Outlook
Qualifications:
• 6+ years' experience as Legal Assistant/Paralegal
• Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a related field or Paralegal Certificate
• Prior plaintiff mass tort or asbestos experience is ideal
• Firm cannot consider candidates with prior asbestos defense litigation experience due to conflicts
