    • Position Description: Senior Arista Network Engineer – PEO Digital Network Modernization

      Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Arista Network Engineer to support PEO Digital Network Modernization efforts. This role will be pivotal in establishing operational and cybersecurity resiliency, optimizing cloud services health, and enhancing the overall end-user experience across critical Navy networks. The Senior Arista Network Engineer will architect, design, deploy, maintain, and operate a modernized Spine & Leaf solution integrated with the Naval Exchange Point (NXP) SD-WAN and Microsoft Azure Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI). This modernization will resolve decades of technical debt from the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) and ONE-Net, which has significantly degraded network performance and cloud services health, negatively impacting Navy mission objectives.

      Responsibilities:

      • Architect and Design Network Solutions: Lead the design and implementation of Arista’s Spine & Leaf architecture, integrating with NXP SD-WAN and Microsoft Azure HCI solutions to modernize the network infrastructure.
      • Network Modernization: Work closely with PEO Digital to transition legacy network infrastructure into a modern, resilient, and high-performance system aligned with Zero Trust security principles.
      • Cloud-Native Networking: Develop and implement cloud-native solutions that extend NAVWAR’s Base Area Network (BAN) into the GovCloud, enabling scalable, high-availability operations across a multi-cloud hybrid environment.
      • Performance Optimization: Improve network performance by reducing latency, minimizing packet loss, and eliminating network outages. Provide resilient, secure, and reliable connectivity for Navy mission-critical systems.
      • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration with the Flank Speed Edge (FSE) stack and other Navy systems, leveraging secure vector routing for consistent cloud connectivity.
      • Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts in improving network performance, resiliency, and security across the NAVWAR Old Town campus and other Navy sites, with an emphasis on real-time telemetry, predictive analytics, and automation.
      • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet mission requirements and optimize the end-user experience for Navy personnel.
      • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive design documents, deployment procedures, and operational manuals. Provide regular reports to leadership on project status and network health.

Problem Statement: The NAVWAR Old Town Campus has been experiencing severe network performance degradation, impacting mission effectiveness. The aging infrastructure is unable to meet modern security and bandwidth demands, resulting in high latency, packet loss, and frequent outages. These issues undermine daily operations, slow application access, and risk critical data exchange during peak loads or cyber incidents. The current network infrastructure is vulnerable and in need of modernization to support growing connectivity demands in San Diego.

Technical Approach: To resolve the persistent issues at NAVWAR Old Town, PEO Digital is conducting an Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) comparing Cisco’s Software-Defined Access (SDA) and Arista’s Cloud Networking solutions. The AoA will help select the best solution for a Zero Trust-aligned, cloud-centric architecture that improves scalability, resiliency, and network performance. Arista’s Spine & Leaf architecture, EOS, CloudVision, and NetDL platforms will be used to enhance network resiliency, automation, and operational agility.

      Key Technologies:

      • Arista Cloud Networking with Spine & Leaf Architecture
      • Extensible Operating System (EOS)
      • CloudVision for centralized management and observability
      • NetDL for unified telemetry
      • AVA (AI/ML threat detection) for proactive security and operations
      • Zero Trust security architecture for robust access control and network segmentation
      • Integration with NXP SD-WAN and Azure Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI)

      Required Qualifications:

      • Active Secret Security Clearance
      • 10+ years of practical experience in network engineering, with a focus on cloud networking, SD-WAN, and high-performance network designs
      • Deep knowledge of Arista Cloud Networking solutions, including Spine & Leaf architecture, EOS, NetDL, and CloudVision
      • Expertise in implementing Zero Trust security models and AI/ML for network management and security operations
      • Proven experience in modernizing legacy network infrastructures to support cloud-native solutions
      • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with onsite presence at Navy sites as needed for deployment and technical exchange meetings
      • Strong communication skills to engage with cross-functional teams, leadership, and Navy stakeholders
      • Preferred Locations: San Diego, California or Pearl Harbor, Hawaii
      • Salary Range: $170,000 - $200,000 per year
      • Travel: Up to 20% for site visits and technical collaboration

      Preferred Skills:

      • Experience with Microsoft Azure HCI and cloud-based networking solutions
      • Familiarity with NXP SD-WAN and its integration with Arista networking solutions
      • Knowledge of AI-driven automation in network operations and security
      • Experience working in military or government contracting environments, particularly with Navy and Department of Defense (DoD) networks

Why Join Us? You’ll play a critical role in modernizing the Navy’s network infrastructure, ensuring mission resilience, cybersecurity, and seamless cloud integration for the PEO Digital Network Modernization initiative. Your contributions will directly impact the Navy's ability to operate in a highly contested environment, ensuring continuous operations and success in supporting national defense.
