Java Backend Developer

Location: Sunnyvale, CA / Bentonville, AR
Work Model: Onsite, 5 days/week
Duration: Contract

Job Description:

We are looking for a Java Backend Developer with strong experience in designing and developing scalable, high-performance backend applications. The candidate will work on cloud-native applications and distributed systems supporting large-scale enterprise platforms.

Required Skills:

5+ years of experience in Java backend development
Strong hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17/21
Strong experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework
Experience developing microservices and REST APIs
Strong experience with Kafka or other event-streaming/messaging platforms
Experience with NoSQL databases, preferably Cassandra and/or Cosmos DB
Experience with Azure, preferably AKS
Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
Good understanding of distributed systems and scalable application architecture
Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
Experience with Redis is a plus
Familiarity with GraphQL is a plus
Experience with CI/CD, Git, Maven, Jenkins, or similar DevOps tools
Strong understanding of unit and integration testing using JUnit

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java/Spring Boot microservices
Build and integrate REST APIs and event-driven services
Work with Kafka for asynchronous communication and event processing
Develop applications using NoSQL and relational databases
Deploy and support services in Azure/Kubernetes environments
Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance and reliability
Collaborate with product, architecture, DevOps, and other engineering teams
Participate in design discussions, code reviews, testing, and production releases
Follow engineering best practices for security, scalability, and maintainability

Preferred Skills:

Experience working on large-scale e-commerce or enterprise platforms
Experience handling high-volume/high-traffic production systems
Experience with Cassandra, Cosmos DB, Kafka, Azure AKS, Kubernetes, and GraphQL
