They are hiring a Staff Accountant to join its lean, high-energy finance team. As the business scales, this person will help keep the financial statements accurate and reliable, owning the accounts payable function while supporting month-end close, reporting, and tax compliance. 

This is a 100% remote, independent contractor role working US business hours.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Own the accounts payable function, processing bills, requesting missing information, and completing 3-way matches for PO-related bills.
• Prepare journal entries and complete balance sheet reconciliations during the monthly close, researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain prepaid expenses and fixed asset schedules, including monthly depreciation.
• Manage credit card spend and expense reporting through the company's expense platform.
• Support sales tax compliance, audit preparation, annual 1099s, and ad hoc financial analysis.
• Work cross-functionally with other departments to answer questions and gather information.

Requirements

• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least one full year of general accounting.
• Hands-on accounts payable experience.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience with an ERP system (QuickBooks Online is a plus).
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting.
• Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, plus fluent written and verbal English.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort collaborating across teams.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in e-commerce or CPG.
• Exposure to financial reporting or US sales tax.
• Familiarity with tools like Ramp, Numeral, and Numeric.
