CNC Machinist

Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | First - 7-3:30

Join trak group in partnering with a manufacturing client seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to produce precision components in a quality-focused manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for machine setup and operation, tooling selection, CNC program adjustments, dimensional inspection, and troubleshooting to ensure parts meet required specifications and tolerances.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD models, and work orders.

  • Set up and operate CNC machines, primarily CNC lathes, to manufacture precision components.

  • Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, feed rates, and coolant applications based on materials and job requirements.

  • Program, edit, and troubleshoot CNC G-code as needed.

  • Inspect completed parts using precision measuring equipment to verify dimensional accuracy and tolerances.

  • Identify and resolve tooling problems, material defects, and dimensional inconsistencies.

  • Perform routine machine maintenance and minor equipment repairs.

  • Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, and job tracking information.

  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Production to troubleshoot issues and improve manufacturing processes.

  • Follow OSHA requirements, company safety procedures, and PPE standards.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Must-Haves

  • Hands-on CNC machining and machine setup experience.

  • Experience operating and setting up CNC lathes.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and machining specifications.

  • Knowledge of machining tolerances and quality control practices.

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments to verify finished components.

  • Experience making CNC program adjustments and working with G-code.

  • Ability to select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds.

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Basic machining-related math, geometry, and trigonometry skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed work instructions.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to wear required PPE.

Preferred

  • Technical or vocational training in machining or a related field.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience with Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, or similar CNC controls.

  • Experience machining precision or tight-tolerance components.

  • Previous experience performing minor CNC machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
