Job Description

Manufacturing and distribution company in the Beach Cities is seeking an Assitant Controller to join their accoutning team.  The Assistant Controller will support the company in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and implementing effective financial controls. This role requires strong accounting expertise and experience in manufacturing and distribution. This is an office position, with great potential for upward growth. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Aid in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Analyze financial results and variances, providing actionable insights to management.
  • Budgeting/Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual operating plans, forecasts, and conduct variance analysis for the location.
  • Inventory Accounting: Manage inventory valuation, reconciliations, and reporting. Collaborate with operations to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
  • ERP Systems: Support the implementation and optimization of ERP systems for enhanced financial reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Accounting Oversight: Supervise daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
  • Internal Controls: Develop and monitor financial controls and processes to enhance accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Audit Support: Lead external audits, preparing necessary documentation and ensuring adherence to tax regulations and accounting standards.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, with significant oversight responsibilities manufacturing and distribution.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to implement financial controls and process improvements.
  • Proficient in Inventory Analysis, Inventory Audits, and Inventory Controls
  • Strong analytical, and interpersonal skills and problem solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with lease accounting.
