Job Description

Join a prestigious leader in the commercial real estate market, known for their commitment to excellence and innovation. We are seeking an accomplished Director of Accounting to lead the accounting team. The Director of Accounting holds significant responsibility for providing leadership and ensuring the overall success of the accounting functions within the organization. This encompasses tasks such as gathering and meticulously analyzing financial data, generating comprehensive financial reports, and overseeing several essential accounting and financial reporting functions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the accounting operations including GL, A/R, A/P, Cash, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets
  • Direct and oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying and implementing efficient processes to streamline and automate accounting and financial operations, optimizing resource utilization across the organization.
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements, including inter-company eliminations and associated flux analyses, to support the annual financial audit.
  • Conduct rigorous year-end financial analysis and comprehensive capital account assessments, providing critical insights and strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Produce meticulous work products for external CPAs, ensuring smooth and efficient tax processes and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee comprehensive financial reporting for all commercial properties, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Actively participate in financing, acquisition, and disposition transactions, offering invaluable financial insights and support to senior leadership.
  • Develop and recommend revenue enhancement strategies and cost containment measures, contributing directly to the company's financial sustainability and growth.
  • Ensure thorough compliance with loan agreements and oversee effective management of loan-related financial activities.
  • Collaborate closely with property management executives to ensure accurate reporting and presentation of property revenue and operational metrics.
  • Partner with senior management to develop and execute long-term financial strategies aligned with the company's overarching goals and strategic objectives.
  • Supervise all aspects of commercial real estate accounting, including budget preparation, CAM reconciliations, and management of annual rent escalations.

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, within real estate or property management
  • CPA
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects and cross-functional teams, delivering results in a dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Yardi
  • Proven leadership and development skills, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.

 

Location: El Segundo

Compensation $165,000 - $185,000 + bonus
