Job Description

Step into a pivotal engineering role where you’ll shape the next generation of modular data center infrastructure. This is a hands-on opportunity to take ownership of complex mechanical systems and piping designs, work directly with clients, and see your projects through from concept to delivery. Join a team that values technical excellence, accountability, and end-to-end project leadership.

About the Role:

You will support the design, engineering, and delivery of modular data center infrastructure projects, with a focus on mechanical systems, piping, and fire suppression. Working closely with internal stakeholders and clients, you will translate technical requirements into robust, cost-effective designs that can be efficiently manufactured and installed. Your work will directly impact project performance, reliability, and on-time delivery for large-scale infrastructure and industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical and process design of modular data center infrastructure, including piping systems and fire suppression systems, from concept through detailed design.
  • Develop and review 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD to support fabrication, assembly, and installation.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to size equipment, piping, and components, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Coordinate closely with electrical, structural, and controls engineers to integrate mechanical systems into complete modular solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including design specifications, equipment lists, and engineering reports.
  • Support budgeting and cost control activities by providing engineering input to estimates, tracking design-related costs, and identifying value-engineering opportunities.
  • Interface directly with clients to clarify requirements, present design solutions, and resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing, factory testing, and field installation to ensure designs are executed correctly and issues are resolved promptly.

Key Requirements:

  • 7+ years of mechanical or electrical engineering experience in large infrastructure, industrial facilities, or data center environments.
  • Strong background in mechanical engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer as applied to infrastructure systems.
  • Proven experience with piping systems design, including layout, routing, and specification of piping components.
  • Hands-on experience with fire suppression systems design in industrial or critical infrastructure settings.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling and 2D drafting of mechanical systems and assemblies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently from design through delivery.
  • Experience contributing to budgeting and cost control for engineering projects, including cost estimating and tracking.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions and resolve issues independently.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with modular or skid-mounted systems for industrial or data center applications.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, ASME, API) for piping and fire protection.
  • Background in process engineering for cooling, chilled water, or other fluid systems in critical facilities.
  • Experience working with manufacturing or fabrication teams to optimize designs for manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of data center mechanical infrastructure, including cooling systems, CRAC/CRAH units, and associated support systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or ability to obtain is preferred.
  • Additional certifications in fire protection, piping design, or data center infrastructure are an advantage.

If you are a hands-on engineer who enjoys leading technical efforts and delivering complex infrastructure projects, this role offers the autonomy and impact you are looking for—apply now to take the next step in your career.
