Job Description

Management Consultant

Location:
Remote

Our client is an operations and supply chain consulting firm with offices across North America and Europe. We serve manufacturers, distributors, service organizations, private equity firms, and their portfolio companies. With 150+ consultants across two continents, they are well-positioned to support large-footprint, multinational clients.

A pioneer in lean manufacturing for over 35 years, with early successes documented in Jim Womack’s Lean Thinking, their specialties span operational excellence, supply chain management, human capital strategy, private equity value creation, digital manufacturing, and management system implementation. They are a recognized leader in Production Operations by ALM.

Your Role

The Management Consultant is the senior-most presence on a client engagement, with accountability spanning the full lifecycle, from initial diagnostic and scoping through implementation plan development and execution. The Management Consultant leads the project team, owns the client relationship at the executive and steering committee level, and serves as the primary escalation point between client and TBM leadership. Key responsibilities include:

  • Own end-to-end engagement delivery: lead the project team to execute against plan, ensuring committed results are achieved on time, within scope, and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Serve as primary client relationship owner: cultivate trusted advisor relationships with C-suite, economic buyers, plant managers, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead initial diagnostic and current-state assessment: rapidly identify operational gaps and value creation opportunities; synthesize findings into a clear picture for client leadership.
  • Drive scoping and implementation plan development: define work streams, sequence initiatives, resource the team, and establish the baseline plan against which results are tracked.
  • Support hands-on implementation of select work streams: directly lead critical areas as engagement complexity or client need requires.
  • Drive steering committee effectiveness: facilitate regular steering meetings, keep leadership informed of progress and risks, and escalate critical issues proactively.
  • Manage resource utilization: monitor team capacity against plan and partner with the Consulting Team Leader to secure or reallocate resources as needed.
  • Ensure quality of work delivered: review key deliverables, uphold TBM’s standards for analytical rigor, and ensure outputs translate to measurable client ROI.
  • Drive account growth: proactively identify expansion opportunities within active engagements, develop and present follow-on scopes, and build a pipeline of new work from existing client relationships. The EM is expected to lead growth within their accounts, supported by TBM’s Business Development team for pursuit strategy, proposals, and targeting.
  • Model TBM values: set the standard for professionalism, integrity, and client-first mindset across the engagement team.

What You Bring

Our client seeks seasoned leaders with 20+ years of operations, manufacturing, or consulting experience who have personally led large-scale transformations and are ready to apply that expertise as a trusted client partner and engagement leader.

Technical Skills

  • Proven lean transformation track record: deep grounding in Toyota Production System, Danaher Business System, or equivalent, with quantified results at the enterprise level.
  • Broad operations and supply chain expertise: plant management, supply chain leadership, S&OP, planning and scheduling, and cross-functional program management across complex manufacturing environments.
  • Commercial and financial acumen: ability to scope, price, and manage engagements to profitability; connects operational performance to P&L impact and builds the business case for change.
Strong analytical capability: advanced Excel proficiency, financial modeling, and ability to synthesize complex data into executive-ready insights.
  • ERP systems knowledge and AI fluency: understands how enterprise systems interface with operations; willingness to adopt emerging technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred.

Interpersonal & Leadership Profile

  • Executive presence: commands credibility with C-suite and senior stakeholders; earns trust quickly through consistent delivery and candid communication.
  • Consultative selling mindset — identifies client needs beyond the current engagement and partners internally to pursue and close opportunities.
  • Team leader and coach: leads, develops, and holds accountable a multi-level consulting team; creates a high-performance environment where SMCs and MCs grow.
  • Influential communicator: adapts style across the client hierarchy; delivers difficult findings with clarity, composure, and conviction.
  • High bias for action with strong judgment: moves with urgency, decides under pressure, and knows when to escalate versus resolve independently.
  • Results-oriented and collaborative: holds self and team to committed outcomes; partners with Solution Leaders, Consulting Team Leaders, and peers to deliver for the client.

Life at this Organization

  • Live anywhere in the US (within reasonable proximity to a major airport to make weekly client travel sustainable and practical); no requirement to work from a TBM office when not at client sites.
  • Travel expectations: a typical engagement week begins with arrival at the client site by midday Monday and departure on Friday around noon. Changes to schedule will require customer approval.
  • 100% employee-owned (ESOP eligible). Competitive base salary and bonus.
  • Benefits: medical, dental, vision, and 401k with match.
  • Onboarding and career development across multiple industries.
  • Regular training led by seasoned TBM professionals. A collaborative team culture with strong camaraderie; we grow together and win together.

This is a full-time opportunity requiring US work authorization; sponsorship will not be offered.
