Job Description
HR Director
Location: Remote (U.S.)
Employment Type: Direct hire
Role Overview
Client is looking for an HR Director to build out its people function as the company scales. This role needs to come from a manufacturing or industrial background not necessarily shop-floor experience, but a real understanding of how the industry works, so this person can advise leadership and the recruiting team with informed, industry-specific guidance rather than generic HR practices. Startup or smaller-company experience is a strong plus, given client's current stage of growth. This is a senior/director-level role, not a CHRO position, though it may grow in scope over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and own core HR infrastructure (policies, processes, systems) appropriate for a scaling manufacturing company.
- Advise leadership and the recruiting team on manufacturing/industrial-specific hiring practices, language, and market context.
- Support the definition and rollout of company culture and values helping translate leadership's vision into concrete, actionable practices and accountability structures.
- Partner closely with the CEO and leadership team as a trusted, hands-on HR generalist during this early growth stage.
- Help scale HR practices as the company grows across multiple U.S. sites.
Qualifications
- Prior HR leadership experience within the manufacturing or broader industrial sector.
- Comfortable operating in a startup or small/mid-size company environment (not just large-company HR).
- Strong judgment and independent decision-making ability; comfortable being the primary HR voice without a large team around them.
- Experience building HR functions and practices from the ground up.
Nice to Have
- Experience with employee equity/incentive programs.
- Background supporting a company through a fundraising or major growth stage.
