E&I Engineer – High Voltage, DCS & Industrial Systems

Are you an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer looking for an opportunity where your technical expertise can make a direct impact on plant reliability and performance?

We’re looking for an experienced E&I professional to support a large-scale chemical manufacturing operation in Baytown, TX. This is a hands-on engineering and maintenance support role where you’ll work with industrial high-voltage electrical systems, DCS hardware, instrumentation, PLCs, cogeneration equipment, and critical plant assets.

You’ll partner closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and EHS teams to troubleshoot complex issues, improve preventive maintenance programs, plan maintenance activities, and support new engineering projects.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for industrial electrical and instrumentation systems, including high-voltage equipment.

• Support the reliability and maintenance of critical plant electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control systems.

• Work with DCS hardware and system interfaces, with PLC experience being highly valued.

• Plan and prioritize maintenance work, developing detailed job plans and determining the labor, materials, equipment, and resources needed.

• Develop and improve preventive maintenance programs, calibration procedures, PM checklists, and related documentation.

• Analyze equipment history and technical information to identify opportunities to improve maintenance effectiveness and plant reliability.

• Support maintenance and operation of an onsite cogeneration facility.

• Provide technical oversight related to gas compressors operating in HRVOC service.

• Evaluate spare-parts requirements and availability to help minimize equipment downtime.

• Work closely with Engineering on new projects, plant improvements, and technical initiatives.

• Maintain accurate E&I documentation and provide technical information and guidance to plant personnel.

• Train and mentor technicians on E&I systems, procedures, and equipment.

• Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented and work orders are completed in accordance with plant procedures.

• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure electrical and instrumentation work is performed using appropriate safe-work practices.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify problems, develop solutions, and continuously improve plant operations.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with an instrumentation focus or related experience.

• Approximately 10 years of experience supporting maintenance in a chemical plant or similar industrial environment.

• Strong experience troubleshooting industrial high-voltage electrical systems.

• Solid understanding of DCS hardware, controls, and system interfacing.

• Experience with PLCs is highly desirable.

• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical and instrumentation systems and maintenance practices.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced plant environment.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan work and follow projects through to completion.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Comfortable working independently while partnering with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and EHS.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
