Job Title: Relationship Manager

Location: Fargo, ND


Overview

The Relationship Manager plays a critical role in driving member growth, satisfaction, and long-term engagement. This position blends sales, relationship management, and financial guidance to deliver seamless, high-quality member experiences. Relationship Managers actively promote a full suite of financial products—including loans, deposit accounts, mortgages, and investment services—while helping members achieve their financial goals.


Key Responsibilities

Member Growth & Engagement

  • Drive new member acquisition and expand existing member relationships
  • Grow loan and deposit portfolios while increasing share-of-wallet
  • Deliver exceptional service aligned with top industry satisfaction benchmarks

Financial Guidance & Sales

  • Provide personalized financial advice and solutions based on member needs
  • Meet and exceed sales goals, including checking accounts, product penetration, and loan/deposit targets
  • Conduct outreach campaigns and guide members through financial solutions that improve their financial well-being

Relationship Building & Networking

  • Build strong relationships with members, community partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Develop referral networks through networking, social media, and community engagement
  • Deliver presentations to members, prospects, and partner organizations (in-person and virtual)

Problem Solving & Member Support

  • Identify member needs through consultative conversations
  • Resolve issues efficiently, ensuring a low-effort, high-impact experience
  • Provide onboarding and ongoing support to enhance financial literacy and engagement

Operations & Compliance

  • Support branch/office operations as needed (cash handling, reconciliations, record retention, security)
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., Reg CC, BSA, OFAC, CIP)
  • Maintain professionalism in workspace, appearance, and member interactions

Qualifications

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong sales, relationship-building, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical mindset with comfort applying basic financial and mathematical concepts
  • Experience using CRM systems and financial service tools
  • Confidence presenting to individuals and groups

Knowledge Of

  • Consumer financial needs and financial wellness strategies
  • Banking/credit union products and services, including digital banking tools

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or 7+ years of relevant experience in financial services, sales, or relationship management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365

Certifications & Requirements

  • Ability to become bondable
  • Acceptable credit history
  • Ability to meet SAFE Act requirements and obtain/maintain NMLS registration
