Position: Mechanical Engineer (Remote)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of electronic hardware systems, with a strong emphasis on thermal management for circuit card assemblies (CCAs). This role will focus on mechanical design, 3D modeling and documentation in SOLIDWORKS, and performing thermal and structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to ensure product reliability, performance, and manufacturability.

This is a W2 contract position and is not eligible for C2C or W2 referral candidates.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for electronic systems, with a focus on thermal management solutions
• Create detailed 3D models, layouts, and manufacturing drawings using SOLIDWORKS
• Perform thermal and structural analysis using FEA/FEM, particularly for circuit card assemblies
• Design and optimize heat sinks and thermal interface solutions for electronic components
• Collaborate closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure proper integration of CCAs with mechanical and thermal systems
• Evaluate thermal performance and validate designs through simulation and physical testing
• Support prototype builds, testing, and iterative design improvements
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and technical reports
• Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet DFM/DFA requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within electronics or embedded systems
• Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS for 3D modeling and documentation
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (thermal and/or structural)
• Hands-on experience designing heat sinks and thermal solutions for electronics
• Solid understanding of heat transfer principles and thermal interface materials
• Experience working with circuit card assemblies (CCAs) or PCB-based systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities

• Experience with thermal simulation tools such as ANSYS, FloTHERM, or similar
• Knowledge of electronics packaging and environmental considerations
• Familiarity with military, aerospace, or ruggedized system design environments
