Position: Senior Electrical Engineer (Hiawatha, IA)

Job Overview:
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and verification of custom electrical assemblies and interconnect solutions. This role involves full-stack development of mixed-signal printed circuit boards (PCBs), including high-speed digital circuitry, embedded systems, power conversion, and related technologies. The position also includes chassis and interface wiring design.

In addition to technical responsibilities, the Senior Electrical Engineer provides leadership through mentoring, peer reviews, and coordination of small project teams.

This is a direct-hire position.

What you will be doing as a Senior Electrical Engineer…
• Architect, design, document, and troubleshoot custom electrical assemblies to meet internal and external customer requirements
• Develop schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, and assembly drawings using established electrical design tools
• Review electrical designs and drawings to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and best practices
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering to research, design, and evaluate systems and processes
• Ensure designs are manufacturable, reliable, and error-free
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and component-level analysis for production builds and customer returns
• Support the development and maintenance of electrical design standards and documentation
• Apply engineering theory and simulation tools to evaluate feasibility, performance, and environmental impact
• Coordinate electrical manufacturing and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications
• Develop and document electrical test procedures and fixtures for product validation and factory testing
• Evaluate prototypes for reliability, performance, and compliance with requirements
• Support pilot builds and testing of new products and systems
• Compile technical data and generate reports for engineering studies and projects
• Mentor and support junior engineers and provide technical leadership within project teams

Skills you ideally bring to the table as a Senior Electrical Engineer…
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience or minimum of 15 years of documented electrical engineering/design experience in lieu of a degree
• 3+ years of PCB layout experience
• 5+ years of electrical assembly/build experience
• 5+ years of CAD software experience
• Extensive knowledge of computer hardware systems (PCs, networking equipment, data acquisition systems, UPS, server racks, etc.)
• Experience with advanced test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, bit error rate testers)
• 1+ year of leadership or team lead experience
• Knowledge of embedded systems firmware design constraints and best practices
