Job Description
Solution Architect | JD
Work Allocation Responsibilities
- Define end to end solution architectures aligned with enterprise strategy, ensuring scalability, security, performance, and maintainability across the solution lifecycle.
- Own key architectural decisions, balancing business value, cost efficiency, and long term sustainability (capital stewardship).
- Assess build vs buy vs reuse options, ensuring optimal trade offs between cost, complexity, time to market, and risk.
- Develop architecture artifacts (diagrams, integration patterns, data flows, decision records) and ensure clear documentation for long term maintainability.
- Guide and influence development teams to adopt architectural principles, standards, and best practices without impacting delivery velocity.
- Lead architecture reviews and ensure compliance with enterprise standards, security requirements, and governance processes.
- Evaluate technical feasibility and perform cost/benefit analysis for new initiatives and enhancements.
- Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and technical debt across the solution lifecycle.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Support modernization and transformation initiatives, including migration of legacy systems to cloud native architectures.
- Ensure operational readiness, resiliency, and supportability of solutions in production environments.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in Azure cloud architecture, including design of secure, scalable, and highly available solutions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
- Deep knowledge of Azure core services such as compute, storage, networking, identity (Azure AD), integration services, and data platforms.
- Proven experience with cloud architecture patterns: microservices, event driven architecture, API led integration, and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of resiliency and DR patterns (high availability, failover strategies, backup and recovery).
- Experience evaluating and implementing PaaS vs IaaS vs SaaS solutions based on cost, operability, and risk considerations.
- Experience designing complex enterprise environments with multiple interacting systems, including transactional applications, data flows, and integration layers (e.g., APIs, messaging, system-to-system integrations), ensuring consistency, scalability, and maintainability end-to-end.
- Experience modernizing legacy systems and leading cloud migration and refactoring initiatives.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automation.
- Strong integration expertise (APIs, messaging, data integration patterns).
- Ability to produce and maintain architecture documentation and decision records.
Required Functional/Domain Knowledge
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles and alignment with business strategy.
- Experience working in complex enterprise environments with multiple systems, integrations, and cross team dependencies.
- Ability to balance short term delivery needs vs long term architecture sustainability and TCO.
- Proven capability to operate in environments with competing priorities and resource constraints.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to explain and defend architectural decisions.
- Experience influencing teams and driving technical alignment across distributed engineering teams.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and improving team technical maturity.
- Ability to manage conflict between business priorities and technical best practices, driving balanced outcomes.
- Experience working in Agile delivery models, supporting both architecture strategy and delivery execution.
- Strong focus on risk management, governance, and compliance requirements in enterprise environments.
