Job Description
Strategic Staffing Solutions International Client - Fortune 500 company is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer (Linux Systems Administrator / Network Monitoring Engineer) to support the implementation and operation of a new network monitoring and micro-segmentation solution in a Red Hat Linux environment. This is an initial 6-month contract for a pilot project, with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role if the project moves into production.
The successful candidate will install and operate the monitoring platform on Red Hat Linux servers and deploy monitoring agents across Linux, Unix, and Windows hosts. They will work closely with infrastructure and network teams to understand network traffic, system operations, and help build a new capability from the ground up.
Must-have skills
- Around 5+ years of experience in Linux/Unix system administration.
- Strong experience with Red Hat Linux server administration.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networking, network traffic, firewalls, and filtering (iptables or similar).
- Experience installing, configuring, and operating server-side software on Linux.
- Scripting skills (Shell/Bash required; PowerShell and/or Python, Java are beneficial) for diagnostics, automation, and reporting.
- Understanding of REST APIs.
- Ability to troubleshoot system and network-related issues.
Nice to have
- Windows administration knowledge, particularly software/agent installation on Windows hosts.
- Experience with network monitoring, security, or micro-segmentation tools (e.g. Illumio or similar).
- Knowledge of integrating monitoring/security agents (e.g. CrowdStrike or similar endpoint tools).
- Cisco networking knowledge or certifications are advantageous but not required.
Project Overview
- Deploy and operate a network monitoring platform on dedicated Red Hat servers in the data centre.
- Install monitoring agents across approximately 100 Linux and Windows machines during the pilot.
- Learn and expand the platform's capabilities, including automated labelling, visibility into network communications, and policy management.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and networking teams to understand system operations and network behaviour.
- Support diagnostics, reporting, and operational improvements through scripting.
Team & Working Model
- New team being established in Warsaw, with plans to expand to other locations in the future.
- Initially, hiring two contractors.
- Hybrid working model:
- More office presence at the beginning for onboarding and knowledge sharing.
- Afterwards, typically 23 days per week in the office, with some flexibility depending on project needs.
