Job Description

Strategic Staffing Solutions customer is looking for a Software Engineer to join their team, developing and supporting business-critical trading applications used by front office teams. In this role, you will build scalable, high-performance solutions for trade booking and control systems, working closely with traders, quants, and technology teams to deliver reliable, efficient software.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications for front office trading systems.
• Build and enhance trade booking and control platforms used in daily trading operations.
• Collaborate with traders, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Integrate applications with internal and external systems while ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
• Optimize application performance, stability, and scalability.
• Contribute to software testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow software development best practices.
• Continuously improve platform capabilities and contribute to innovative engineering solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• Commercial experience developing applications in Java.
• Experience with Git for version control.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, front office environment.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Slang or willingness to learn it.
• Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf) to improve software development productivity.
• Experience working on financial trading or capital markets applications is an advantage.
