Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

Location: McLean, VA 

Duration: 7 Months

Pay Rate: $75 - $85/HR (W2 Only)

Job/Role Description:

• We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data processing solutions within a large enterprise environment.
• Develop, implement, and optimize data engineering solutions using Python, Scala, SQL, and AWS technologies.
• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to support data integration, transformation, and processing.
• Utilize AWS services, including EMR and Glue, to develop and manage cloud-based data processing solutions.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs to support data exchange between applications and systems.
• Build and maintain real-time data streaming solutions using Apache Kafka.
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable data solutions.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, performance, and scalability across data platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues while identifying opportunities for performance improvements.
• Support enterprise data engineering initiatives and contribute to the development of efficient, scalable data architectures.

Required Qualifications:

• 5–10 years of professional experience in data engineering or a closely related field.
• Strong programming experience with Python and Scala.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Experience with AWS EMR and AWS Glue for data processing and ETL development.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, data transformations, and performance optimization.
• Experience developing and integrating REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for real-time data streaming and processing.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and distributed data processing.
• Experience working with large datasets in enterprise environments.
• Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) or AI-related technologies is preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work onsite in McLean, VA preferred; candidates available to work from other designated company locations may also be considered.
