Business Analyst

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Duration: Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst – Regulatory & Compliance to support strategic regulatory initiatives within the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) organization. This role is ideal for a highly analytical professional who excels at interpreting complex regulatory requirements, assessing business impacts, and translating them into actionable business and functional requirements.

This is a true Business Analyst position focused on business analysis, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance—not project management. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently, ask insightful questions, and perform detailed analysis to uncover root causes and business impacts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze new and evolving regulatory requirements and assess their impact across business, technology, legal, compliance, and operations teams.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, document, validate, and refine detailed business and functional requirements.
  • Translate complex regulatory guidance into clear, actionable business processes and technology requirements.
  • Support regulatory-driven initiatives by ensuring compliance objectives, business needs, and delivery timelines remain aligned.
  • Perform business process analysis to identify regulatory impacts, operational risks, gaps, and dependencies.
  • Support regulatory reporting initiatives through data analysis, documentation, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) business partners, compliance teams, technology organizations, and operations to ensure successful implementation of regulatory changes.
  • Produce high-quality business documentation including business requirements, functional specifications, process flows, gap analyses, and traceability matrices.
  • Work within established service level agreements (SLAs) while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced regulatory environment.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, requirements workshops, and discussions to drive consensus and solution alignment.
  • Provide analytical support throughout the project lifecycle, including testing support, issue resolution, and implementation activities.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Business Analyst experience within financial services, banking, or a highly regulated industry.
  • Strong experience supporting regulatory and compliance initiatives, including U.S. and/or global regulatory programs.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting, data analysis, and regulatory change management.
  • Solid understanding of financial markets, banking operations, and Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) products and processes.
  • Proven ability to assess the business impact of regulatory changes across multiple functional areas.
  • Strong requirements gathering, documentation, and business process analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while effectively managing relationships with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities with the capability to investigate complex business issues beyond surface-level analysis.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting findings to diverse audiences.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite:
    • Excel
    • Word
    • PowerPoint
  • Experience creating business documentation, process flows, requirements matrices, and analytical reports.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret and validate regulatory reporting data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) organizations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting financial institutions.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across Compliance, Risk, Legal, Operations, and Technology.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), requirements traceability, and implementation readiness.
