Health & Safety Advisor (Remote – U.S.)

Location: 100% Remote (U.S. Based)
Travel: Approximately 25% Domestic U.S. Travel

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support the health, safety, and well-being of employees across operational and office environments throughout the United States. This role provides specialized occupational health nursing services, industrial hygiene support, and regulatory compliance expertise to ensure workforce health protection while maintaining alignment with corporate health standards and applicable occupational health legislation.

The successful candidate will partner closely with local and global Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance (HSE&C) teams, site leadership, industrial hygiene professionals, medical providers, regulatory agencies, and business stakeholders to implement comprehensive occupational health programs that promote safe, healthy, and productive workplaces.

This position is fully remote within the United States and requires approximately 25% travel to operational sites.

Key Responsibilities

Occupational Health Services

• Deliver occupational health programs supporting operational and office-based employees across multiple U.S. locations.
• Conduct occupational health risk assessments, including exposure-based evaluations, site assessments, gap analyses, and self-verification activities.
• Coordinate and administer statutory and company-required medical surveillance programs, including:
  • Pre-placement medical evaluations
  • Periodic health assessments
  • Return-to-work evaluations
  • Exit medical examinations
• Provide clinical case management within professional scope of practice, including:
  • Employee triage
  • Health assessments
  • Documentation
  • Follow-up care
  • Referral coordination
• Maintain confidential employee medical records in accordance with applicable regulations and company policies.

Industrial Hygiene Support

• Review Industrial Hygiene monitoring reports and exposure assessments.
• Interpret findings and provide recommendations to HSE&C teams, site leadership, and other stakeholders.
• Support implementation of exposure control measures for occupational health hazards including:
  • Chemical exposures
  • Noise
  • Heat stress
  • Ergonomic risks
  • Fatigue management
  • Indoor environmental quality
• Collaborate with Certified Industrial Hygienists and technical experts to evaluate workplace health risks and recommend corrective actions.

Compliance & Regulatory Support

• Ensure occupational health programs comply with OSHA, applicable federal and state regulations, and internal corporate standards.
• Maintain audit readiness through accurate documentation, compliance records, corrective action tracking, and health program verification.
• Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with implementation of corporate occupational health management systems and health governance processes.

Employee Health & Wellness

• Deliver occupational health education, awareness campaigns, and training programs for employees and contractors.
• Coordinate drug and alcohol testing programs, including chain-of-custody procedures, post-incident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, and regulatory compliance.
• Support employee wellness and health promotion initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.

Emergency Preparedness

• Support site emergency medical response programs.
• Coordinate first aid readiness, responder training, and emergency medical preparedness activities.
• Provide occupational health expertise during emergency response planning and incident investigations when appropriate.

Collaboration

• Serve as a trusted advisor to:
  • Local and Global HSE&C teams
  • Site Managers
  • Business Leaders
  • Internal customers
  • External occupational health providers
  • Industrial hygiene professionals
  • Regulatory authorities
  • Subject Matter Experts
• Foster collaboration across business functions to strengthen occupational health performance and compliance.

Required Qualifications

• Nursing or Medical degree with specialization in Occupational Health.
• Minimum several years of experience delivering occupational health services within industrial, manufacturing, mining, energy, construction, chemical, or other operational environments.
• Experience administering medical surveillance programs and occupational health case management.
• Strong understanding of occupational health legislation and regulatory compliance.
• Experience performing occupational health risk assessments and exposure evaluations.
• Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and occupational exposure controls.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently while supporting geographically dispersed operations.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25% throughout the United States.
