Planner Estimator 

Location: Tampa Bay, FL (Travel between Big Bend, Bayside, and Polk Power Stations)
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $80,000–$105,000 + Overtime Opportunity
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour days

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Planner Estimator II to support maintenance, capital projects, and outage planning within large power generation and heavy industrial facilities. This position is responsible for planning, estimating, scheduling, and coordinating contractor work from project initiation through completion while ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule compliance.

The ideal candidate comes from a power plant, utility, refinery, petrochemical, pulp & paper, mining, or other heavy industrial maintenance environment and has prior hands-on craft experience as an apprentice, journeyman, or skilled trades professional before moving into planning and scheduling.


Responsibilities

Planning & Estimating

  • Develop detailed work scopes and contractor work packages.
  • Prepare labor, equipment, and material estimates.
  • Coordinate maintenance, outage, and capital project planning.
  • Review contractor proposals and estimates.
  • Support budget development and cost control.

Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain maintenance and outage schedules.
  • Monitor Primavera P6 project schedules.
  • Coordinate daily, weekly, and outage schedules.
  • Identify schedule conflicts and recommend solutions.
  • Track project milestones and KPIs.

Maintenance Planning

  • Create complete maintenance work packages.
  • Develop job plans and maintenance procedures.
  • Coordinate permits including:
    • Confined Space
    • Hot Work/Burn Permits
    • Environmental Requirements
  • Ensure safe work practices are incorporated into every work package.

Contractor Coordination

  • Coordinate field execution with supervisors.
  • Monitor contractor productivity.
  • Review and approve invoices.
  • Ensure proper work order closeout.
  • Track follow-up maintenance activities.

Reporting

  • Develop KPI reports.
  • Track outage performance.
  • Monitor labor utilization.
  • Control overtime usage.
  • Prepare management presentations and reports.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6+ years of maintenance planning, estimating, scheduling, or industrial maintenance experience.
  • OR previous Planner Estimator experience.
  • Experience in:
    • Power Plants
    • Utilities
    • Heavy Industrial Facilities
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Maintenance Planning
    • Outage Planning
    • Contractor Management
    • Work Management Systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong Excel skills including:
    • Pivot Tables
    • Formulas
    • Reporting
  • Excellent communication skills.
