Job Title: Functional Test Automation Enablement Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: 12 months
Pay Rate: $75 - $80 (W2 Only)
Job/Role Description:
- This role provides senior-level functional test automation enablement across Lines of Business by triaging and resolving complex impediments and driving consistent adoption of enterprise testing standards.
- This position operates as an enterprise escalation and enablement function, supporting non-standard and edge-case applications that fall outside mainstream test automation tool usage.
- This position will serve as Level 3 technical support during established Office Hours and enterprise chat channels, handling escalations related to complex framework behavior, CI/CD integration issues, and non-obvious test execution failures.
- Partner closely with LOB Single Points of Contact (SPOCs) to diagnose systemic automation challenges and recommend compliant patterns, configurations, and approaches aligned with enterprise standards.
- Develop, curate, and publish enterprise functional test development standards, including test repository and GitHub structure conventions, CI/CD pipeline configuration patterns, test tagging and execution strategies, and environment-aware configuration practices.
- Produce and maintain knowledge assets such as reference implementations, troubleshooting guides for common and advanced issues, and decision guides for framework, pipeline, and execution choices.
- Provide targeted enablement and support for niche, legacy, atypical, or constrained applications by documenting viable patterns and identifying when exceptions or platform enhancements are required.
- Identify recurring impediments and feed actionable insights back into enablement materials, standards, and platform improvements to reduce escalations and cycle time to resolution.
- Collaborate with architects, product teams, and engineering stakeholders to present solutions and drive adoption of best practices across the enterprise.
- Ensure timely, high-quality responses that unblock teams, improve consistency in test framework usage, and reduce delivery risk related to functional test automation failures.
Required Qualifications
- Strong test automation background with hands-on experience writing software tests (Java, C#, and/or Python experience preferred)
- Proven experience in functional test automation enablement, standards development, or L3 escalation support roles at a senior or near-lead level
- Mid-career professional with the ability to operate independently, consult with stakeholders, and influence without direct authority
- Strong communication and consulting skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with architects, product teams, and Lines of Business stakeholders
- Experience developing and publishing technical standards, user guides, reference implementations, and enablement content
- Ability to triage, analyze, and resolve complex, multi-tier test automation and CI/CD integration issues
- Well versed in root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques for non-obvious automation failures
- Experience supporting non-standard, legacy, or edge-case applications in a large enterprise environment
- Prior experience in the financial services industry strongly preferred
- Highly self-motivated and directed with strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment while maintaining high-quality service delivery
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with a customer service and enablement orientation
- Comfortable recommending solutions and best practices rather than performing hands-on test implementation or delivery work
