Job Title: Information Security Engineer (SQL / Scripting / Logging)

Location: Dallas, TX (Irving / Uptown / CIC / DC – Hybrid)
Duration: 18-month contract (strong potential for conversion)

Overview

Seeking a proactive Information Security Engineer to support cybersecurity governance initiatives within a large, regulated enterprise environment. This role blends security, data analysis, and light development/scripting, with a strong focus on SQL, logging, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret security logs and data to support cybersecurity initiatives
• Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze data
• Understand and translate business requirements into data-driven insights
• Support security-related projects with documentation and coordination
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering and business units
• Utilize tools like GitHub and Copilot for development and automation support
• Assist with process improvements and drive efficiency across workflows
• Contribute to project tracking, timelines, and deliverables

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Information Security, Software Engineering, or Network Engineering
• Background in application development OR network support with scripting
• Strong experience writing SQL queries and understanding data use cases
• Knowledge of security logging and monitoring concepts
• Experience in large enterprise / regulated environments
• Familiarity with GitHub and modern development practices
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Self-starter with ability to manage work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic Python or scripting skills
• Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals
• Experience with automation tools or AI-assisted development (e.g., Copilot)
• Exposure to project management or coordination responsibilities
