Job Title: Information Security Engineer (SQL / Scripting / Logging)
Location: Dallas, TX (Irving / Uptown / CIC / DC – Hybrid)
Duration: 18-month contract (strong potential for conversion)
Overview
Seeking a proactive Information Security Engineer to support cybersecurity governance initiatives within a large, regulated enterprise environment. This role blends security, data analysis, and light development/scripting, with a strong focus on SQL, logging, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret security logs and data to support cybersecurity initiatives
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze data
- Understand and translate business requirements into data-driven insights
- Support security-related projects with documentation and coordination
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering and business units
- Utilize tools like GitHub and Copilot for development and automation support
- Assist with process improvements and drive efficiency across workflows
- Contribute to project tracking, timelines, and deliverables
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Information Security, Software Engineering, or Network Engineering
- Background in application development OR network support with scripting
- Strong experience writing SQL queries and understanding data use cases
- Knowledge of security logging and monitoring concepts
- Experience in large enterprise / regulated environments
- Familiarity with GitHub and modern development practices
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Self-starter with ability to manage work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic Python or scripting skills
- Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals
- Experience with automation tools or AI-assisted development (e.g., Copilot)
- Exposure to project management or coordination responsibilities
