Power BI Platform/Microsoft Fabric Administrator
Employment Type: W2 Only (No C2C or 1099)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Location: St. Louis, Missouri
Schedule: On-site, 3 days
Top Skills:
Must have 1+ year of Fabric, and 3+ years of Power BI administration (not creating dashboards, this is more admin at the platform level).
Position Overview
Platform Administration & Governance
- Administer and maintain the Microsoft Fabric and Power BI tenant via the Admin Portal
- Configure and manage tenant‑level settings, feature availability, and preview controls
- Enforce governance, compliance, and data protection standards across Fabric workloads
- Define and maintain workspace lifecycle policies (creation, retention, recovery, deletion)
Security & Access Management
- Manage administrative roles, security groups, and user access in coordination with Microsoft Entra ID and M365 Admin Center
- Govern workspace roles (Admin, Member, Contributor, Viewer) and Fabric item permissions
- Support compliance audits by ensuring proper access controls and administrative oversight
- Partner with security teams on data governance, sensitivity labels, and risk mitigation
Workspace & Capacity Management
- Oversee workspace provisioning, capacity assignments, and upgrade eligibility
- Monitor capacity and tenant usage to optimize performance and cost efficiency
- Identify and remediate orphaned, inactive, or non‑compliant workspaces
- Restore deleted workspaces and manage retention periods when required
Operational Support & Monitoring
- Monitor platform health, adoption, and feature utilization
- Troubleshoot admin‑level issues related to access, permissions, and Fabric capabilities
- Serve as an escalation point for Power BI and Fabric production issues
- Coordinate platform changes and announcements with stakeholders
Standards, Enablement & Continuous Improvement
- Define best practices, guardrails, and operating standards for Power BI and Fabric usage
- Support controlled rollout of new Fabric features and workloads
- Provide guidance and documentation for developers, analysts, and data teams
- Partner with Data, BI, and Engineering teams to align platform capabilities with business needs
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong experience administering Power BI Service and Microsoft Fabric
- Hands‑on knowledge of Fabric workloads (Power BI, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Engineering)
- Experience with tenant settings, workspace administration, and capacity governance
- Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), security groups, and role‑based access control
- Understanding of data governance, compliance, and enterprise BI architectures
Experience
- 3+ years administering enterprise analytics or BI platforms
- Experience supporting large‑scale, multi‑workspace Power BI environments
- Experience working in a regulated or governance‑focused environment (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or Azure certifications
- Experience with DevOps, Git integration, or CI/CD for analytics platforms
- Knowledge of data security concepts (sensitivity labels, auditing, compliance)
- Strong stakeholder communication and documentation skills
