Job Title: Senior Estimator – Opportunity Shaping
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid –Downtown Houston on Smith St; Mon–Thurs onsite, Fri remote)
Pay Rate: $57/hour
Contract Duration: Through 05/31/2027 (extension possible)
Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Estimator – Opportunity Shaping to support major capital projects within the oil & gas sector. This role focuses on early-phase estimating, including cost, schedule, and project controls. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cost engineering, risk analysis, and project estimation across complex upstream and downstream projects.
- Lead development of Project Cost Estimates and Basis of Estimate (BoE) aligned with CPMS standards
- Build and maintain estimate plans for early project phases
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to refine cost estimates
- Develop cost projections and scenario analyses to support business decisions
- Integrate contingency, escalation, and risk analysis into estimates
- Review and validate contractor bids, estimates, and engineering studies
- Support cost estimate assurance reviews and risk assessment engagements
- Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS)
- Monitor estimate accuracy and ensure alignment with project scope and standards
- Produce cost estimating reports for funding and business planning
- Support Management of Change (MOC) processes
- Mentor team members and promote estimating best practices
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in estimating and/or project controls within the oil & gas industry
- Strong knowledge of cost engineering processes, tools, and methodologies
- Experience across all phases of capital project estimating
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card
- Must be local to Houston, TX and able to work hybrid schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large upstream and downstream projects (onshore/offshore)
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proficiency in QUE$TOR or similar estimating tools
- Experience with Monte Carlo simulations or risk-based estimating
- Background in offshore estimating, early concept estimating, or exploration projects
