We’re seeking a Lead Digital Product Manager to drive core banking modernization for the small business segment. This person will lead and mentor digital product managers, financial product managers, Business Systems Consultants (BSCs), and Business Analysts (BAs), while owning deep requirements analysis, current-state configuration analysis, data transfer from mainframe to new platforms, and end-to-end process flows.
Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience with mainframe-based core platforms, especially Hogan, and a track record in externalizing product and pricing rules for scale and speed.
This is a hands-on product leadership role focused on rebuilding SME knowledge, stabilizing configuration governance, and accelerating modernization.
Key Responsibilities
Product Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the product roadmap for core banking modernization focused on small business products such as deposits, lending-related servicing, pricing, and fees.
- Translate business outcomes into epics, features, and prioritized backlogs across digital and core systems.
- Mentor and lead cross-functional teams including Digital PMs, Financial PMs, BSCs, and BAs.
Requirements & Analysis
- Perform deep requirements analysis by decomposing business needs into clear, testable functional and non-functional requirements.
- Produce a complete as-is analysis of current system configurations, particularly in Hogan, and define the to-be configuration on the target platform.
- Create and maintain current-state and future-state process flows and systems interaction maps.
Core Modernization & Migration
- Lead data conversion planning and execution from mainframe to modern platforms, including mapping, cleansing rules, reconciliation, and cutover/runbook planning.
- Partner with architecture and engineering teams on integration patterns, APIs, and data contracts, and support conversion dress rehearsals and cutover.
- Define and manage deliverables including configuration workbooks, requirements-to-test-case traceability, conversion rules, acceptance criteria, and runbooks.
Product / Price Externalization
- Drive externalization of product and pricing rules from the core, including governance, versioning, and change control.
- Ensure configurability and reusability for small business product variants and pricing scenarios.
Knowledge Capture & Risk Management
- Rebuild SME knowledge through playbooks, configuration catalogs, decision logs, and knowledge repositories.
- Embed controls for data quality, auditability, and compliance, including model of record, change logs, and approvals.
- Coordinate with Risk, Compliance, InfoSec, and Audit on policy alignment and control evidence.
Delivery Excellence
- Lead UAT, operational readiness, and post-conversion stabilization.
- Track SLAs, defects, and business adoption metrics.
- Manage dependencies across vendors, platform teams, and downstream systems such as statements, fees, pricing, and online banking.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8–12+ years in Product Management or equivalent BSC/BA lead experience within financial services, including core banking initiatives
- Demonstrated experience with mainframe-based core systems, ideally Hogan (FIS), including configuration analysis and change management
- Proven delivery across core modernization, data conversion/migration, and process engineering
- Strong command of requirements analysis, user stories and acceptance criteria, process flows, and traceability
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and aligning business, technology, and risk stakeholders
- Deep understanding of small business banking products, processes, and nuances including pricing, fees, product constructs, and operational impacts
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience at a large U.S. bank that uses or used Hogan, particularly in Small Business
- Hands-on work externalizing product and pricing rules, such as product catalog, pricing engine, and rules governance
- Familiarity with API-first modernization, eventing/data streaming, and config-driven architectures
- Background in conversion cutovers, parallel runs, and post-conversion stabilization for core systems
- Comfort with knowledge management frameworks to rebuild SME artifacts rapidly
- Exposure to regulatory and control requirements for core banking changes, including audit trails, approvals, and separation of duties
Key Deliverables (First 90–180 Days)
- As-Is Configuration Analysis of Hogan/core modules with gaps and risks
- To-Be Product & Pricing Configuration Design, including governance model
- End-to-End Process Flows and system interaction maps for current and future state
- Data Conversion Strategy & Runbook, including mapping, cleansing, and reconciliation
- Backlog & Roadmap with measurable outcomes and dependency plan
- Knowledge Repository including playbooks, decision logs, and configuration catalogs
- UAT & Cutover Readiness Plan with success criteria and post-conversion KPIs
Success Metrics
- Reduction in manual workarounds and defect rates tied to configuration
- On-time conversion milestones and clean reconciliation at cutover
- Cycle-time improvement for product and pricing changes after externalization
- Audit-ready artifacts and control evidence with zero high-severity findings
- Reconstructed SME knowledge base adopted by product, operations, and technology teams
Nice-to-Have Tools & Platforms
