Senior Platform Engineer – Python & DevSecOps

Location: Remote

Duration: 24 Month Contract

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with deep Python expertise and a strong open-source mindset to help drive platform engineering excellence across the organization. This role is ideal for an engineer who has demonstrable contributions to open-source ecosystems and is passionate about building scalable, secure, and developer-friendly CI/CD and automation platforms.

You will define and evangelize best practices for CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevSecOps, and GitOps, with a strong emphasis on Conda-based Python workflows. In this role, you’ll act as a technical leader, shaping golden paths, enabling teams, and improving delivery performance through measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to and maintain open-source projects, including demonstrated prior contributions to:
• Conda-Forge
• Pixi Package Manager
• Design, develop, and maintain GitHub Actions and CI/CD automation frameworks used across engineering teams
• Establish and steward platform engineering standards, including:
• CI/CD patterns
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates
• Golden-path repositories and reusable automation components
• Lead and evangelize DevSecOps and GitOps practices, ensuring security, compliance, and reliability are built into delivery pipelines
• Promote and measure engineering effectiveness using DORA metrics, continuously improving developer productivity and platform reliability
• Serve as a technical mentor and thought leader for Python, automation, and DevOps best practices
• Collaborate with application teams, security partners, and platform stakeholders to align tooling and workflows
• Build and maintain high-quality documentation to support adoption and long-term sustainability of platform solutions

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience developing with Python, including advanced scripting and automation
• 6+ years of experience with:
• Python automation
• CI/CD pipelines
• GitHub and GitHub Actions
• Demonstrable open-source contributions, specifically to Conda-Forge and/or Pixi Package Manager
• Strong experience designing and implementing CI/CD automation at scale
• Proven ability to establish engineering standards and reusable platform components
• Deep understanding of DevSecOps principles and secure software delivery practices
