Job Description: Control Documentation Specialist – Credit Cards 
West Des Moines, IA

Overview:
We are seeking a Control Documentation Specialist to support the Credit Cards product area. This role focuses on optimizing, enhancing, and managing control documentation and procedures to ensure compliance, completeness, and alignment with company policies. The ideal candidate will combine strong documentation skills with the ability to engage SMEs, technology engineers, and product managers to create high-quality, audit-ready procedures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and rewrite existing control procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with company policy.

  • Conduct interviews with technology engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to capture accurate and comprehensive procedural details.

  • Enhance procedures to ensure they are thorough, complete, and practical for operational execution.

  • “Pressure-test” new and existing control documents, validating that all required components are included and sufficiently detailed.

  • Manage the procedure update lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery in alignment with issue remediation, regulatory exams, and project-related deadlines.

  • Partner cross-functionally with product, technology, and risk teams to strengthen documentation quality and control effectiveness.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to translate complex processes into clear, actionable procedures.

  • Experience working with control documentation, compliance, audit, or risk management functions is preferred.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying gaps and improving procedural quality.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in financial services, credit cards, loyalty/rewards programs, or related product areas.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and internal control frameworks.

  • Prior experience in documentation management or procedure governance.
