Strategic Staffing Solutions is seeking a Plant Design Engineer to support major generation expansion projects that improve fuel efficiency, ensure emissions compliance, and enhance dual-fuel reliability.
This senior role will be involved in both detailed engineering design and field engineering execution for large, multi-disciplinary power plant projects. The Plant Design Engineer will collaborate with engineering firms, contractors, and station personnel to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant designs that strengthen long-term grid reliability and sustainability.
Required-5-8 years performing the below
Detailed Design Engineering Phase
- Act as liaison between internal engineering, power stations, and external engineering firms
- Review and approve plant design calculations, specifications, and drawings
- Ensure designs comply with company standards, industry codes, and best practices
- Provide technical support during procurement, including bid reviews and specification development
- Monitor engineering progress against budget and schedule
- Participate in design model reviews, constructability reviews, and factory acceptance testing
- Apply value engineering to optimize project cost-effectiveness
Field Engineering Phase
- Provide technical guidance during construction and commissioning at power stations
- Coordinate with contractors and operations on site logistics, equipment outages, and tie-ins
- Ensure construction quality aligns with design intent and standards
- Inspect equipment deliveries and confirm proper handling, storage, and installation
- Support startup, commissioning, and turnover to operations, including spare parts planning and vendor coordination
- Assist operations and maintenance teams with preventive maintenance planning for new equipment
What We Are Looking For
Education
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college
- Preferred: B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
Licenses and Certifications
- Required: P.E. (for Eng IV)
- Preferred: P.E. (for Eng III), Florida FE or EIT
Experience
- Eng III: Minimum 8 years of power plant design engineering experience with large, multi-disciplinary projects
- Eng IV: Minimum 12 years of power plant design engineering experience with large, multi-disciplinary projects
- Preferred: Direct experience performing the duties listed above
Skills and Abilities
- Strong technical knowledge of plant design, systems integration, and field engineering practices
- Ability to work safely in both construction and operating power plant environments
- Proven ability to coordinate across engineering disciplines, contractors, and plant personnel
- Skilled in problem-solving, schedule tracking, and ensuring design quality through execution
