Title: GIS Solutions Architect
Location: Tampa, FL 4 days On-Site,1day remote
Duration: 24+ Month W2 Contract **(Contract to Hire)**
Quick summary:
*A new position has been posted for a GIS Solutions Architect. The role focuses on implementing and enhancing Energy Company’s GIS ESRI platform that will enable next-generation network management embracing advancements in AI, Digital Twin technology, Application & Infrastructure with cloud computing while maintaining awareness of Cyber Security concerns and best practices.
This will be an instrumental role within ADI to delivering on the strategic vision for GIS supporting the next-generation Grid, Asset Management and Utility Network.
POSITION CONCEPT
The GIS Solutions Architect will provide innovative design suggestions to assist the team in building Energy Company’s GIS ecosystem that will enable next-generation operational capabilities and solutions while maintaining awareness of Cyber Security concerns and best practices. Work closely with the business unit to implement proven IT/GIS strategies for their platform architectures, help promote the utilization of GIS based on mission results and business value and support the development of a multi-year strategic vision of in Grid Transformation. Function as a key asset across organizational and digital technology businesses, will help set the direction and establish the approach for integrating GIS into the digital landscape. The primary role is to design an architecture that supports the most effective, reliable, and secure digital ecosystem that meets the needs of TECO and provides a foundation for our digital energy future.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Craft and propose solutions that clarify how GIS brings business value to address critical business challenges faced by Energy Company in a proactive manner. (10%)
2. Responsible for advancing GIS technology integrates/interfaces with Energy Company’s vision and translate system requirements into software architecture and design specifications. (10%)
3. Leverage experience in the implementation of Enterprise Information System (EIS) frameworks and platform architectures from requirements including IT and GIS strategies, cloud patterns, security, scalability, and licensing. (10%)
4. Work closely and actively with business unit to identify, design, and certify key GIS workflows for the GIS enterprise platform. (10%)
5. Develop organizational level multi-year IT/GIS strategies to assist with technology change and budgetary planning. (10%)
6. Work closely with IT and business unit teams to provide an architectural solution that is flexible, scalable and agile - capable of synchronizing with continuously changing business requirements. (10%)
7. Lead technical design workshops, assessments, and planning sessions. Review functional requirements and designs ensuring documented requirements are delivered with excellence. (10%)
8. Assist in the evaluation of GIS-related solutions for integration into the technology stack. (10%)
9. Contribute to the development, maintenance, implementation, and reinforcement of the future-state geo-spatial operating model and the continued maturing of the Digital organization. (10%)
10. Communicate insights to cross-functional team members and management in a proactive manner. (10%)
SUPERVISION
Direct: May supervise GIS support resources.
Indirect: Contract resources. GIS support resources, contractor, security, compliance, database administration. May serve as a backup to the Manager.
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: Stakeholders of the GIS ecosystem and other Electric Delivery Leadership.
Key External: Consultants (System Integrators, Offshore Teams), Contractors, Business Unit Leadership, Vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other computer-related disciplines.
Preferred: Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other computer-related disciplines.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred: Certification for AWS Certified Solution Architect, MCSE Cloud Platform and infrastructure or equivalent, Esri Enterprise System Design Certification or other professional certifications related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 10 years of experience architecting, implementing, and administrating enterprise IT-GIS solutions/systems that leverage a GIS enterprise platform (desktop, server, and online).
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required:
· Understand and stay current with utility industry trends and provide architectural solutions to resolve issues and bring value to business by translating functional requirements into technical configuration; assess the impact on existing and future applications.
· Demonstrated understanding of basic electrical engineering theories and principles.
· Proven ability to manage and resolve complex and sometimes ambiguous technical issues with critical and creative thinking.
· Experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL, PL/SQL, HANA; and/or other RDBMS and Windows, Linux, and/or other server environments.
· Programming and scripting experience with Python, JavaScript, HTML5 (modern web frameworks) or other scripting languages.
· Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial analysis, map projections, etc.
· Experience with current technology implementation patterns including service-oriented architectures, integration platforms (i.e. BizTalk, FME, etc.) and cloud hybrid configurations.

WORK CONDITIONS:
Primarily works in an office environment. Occasionally required to work in an industrial environment. Some travel within the Energy Company’s Service Area and to industry tradeshows/conferences is required.
