Strategic Staffing Solutions is currently looking for a Lead Cloud Engineer for a contract opportunity with one of our largest clients located in Detroit, MI!

Title: Lead Cloud Engineer
Location: Detroit, MI (Hybrid/onsite Tue, Wed, Thu)
Duration: 12+ Months with extension
Role Type: W2 contract role

Job Summary

Leads the cloud platform team by developing and implementing strategies and standards for automating and deploying cloud infrastructure with a product mindset. Oversees application development and hosting, including processes involving engineering, deploying, and operationally managing the underlying logical and physical cloud computing infrastructure. Skilled in programming and is willing to be hands-on working with a variety of IaC tools and software. Works with multiple product and platform teams to support complex digital transformation initiatives across the business. Drives reliability, security, scalability, and observability principles at the organization level. Coaches and provides guidance to less experienced team members. This is a hands-on DevOps Engineer role.

Responsibilities:

• Builds cloud infrastructure products per Microsoft’s cloud adoption framework, e.g., foundation services, landing zones, app patterns. Incorporates security across the SDLC​.
• Oversees and manages development and operations (DevOps) automation, including set-up and configuration of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
• Proactively initiates and drives initiatives to improve technical direction of the cloud and IaC technology stack to deliver business value.
• Applies a perspective of long-term value to promote shared services, scalable solutions, and best practices across products and platform.
• Works beyond the scope of the immediate team/product and able to create innovative solutions that add value.
• Assists in design of solution-dependent architectures per best practices and requirements​.
• Improves cloud product reliability, availability, maintainability, and cost/benefit impacts, including developing fault-tolerant tools to ensure robustness of the cloud infrastructure.
• Facilitates operations, development, and testing by continuously automating and streamlining integration and deployment processes​.
• Builds, maintains, and supports integration between application CI/CD pipelines and the development lifecycle​.
• Provides guidance to less experienced cloud developers in optimizing and automating cloud engineering activities (e.g., real time migration, provisioning, and deployment)

Requirements:

• Should have at least 3 years’ experience as a lead cloud (DevOps) engineer designing and securing technology assets across application, infrastructure and data tiers.
• Must have at least 3 years’ experience working in Azure.
• Have working knowledge of agile development methodologies (scrum, sprints, KanBan etc.) and tools (Azure DevOps etc.)
• Have at least 3-5 years hands-on experience as full stack developer using IaC tools Terraform, Github, Ansible, Packer
• Having experience in Open Policy Agent (OPA) and Backstage is preferrable but not required
• Experience with Azure cloud technologies and services including those for Compute, Storage, Databases and API Management
• On-premise to cloud migration experience
