The New Construction Project Manager establishes relationships with new and existing commercial/industrial customers, commercial and residential developers, architectural and engineering consultant firms, general contractors, residential and commercial builders and governmental agencies (i.e. school districts, county and state governments), coordinating activities related to developing, determining and satisfying customers’ electric needs for New Construction projects and load additions. The Project Manager is the primary contact for new construction projects and strives to ensure customers are presented the most optimal service options and solutions that properly balance with business objectives along with fulfilling Tariff obligations. This position supports Economic Development opportunities to increase our customer share by knowledgeably promoting our products and services that meet customer needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consults with customers regarding their energy needs. Meets corporate objectives and department goals by promoting, negotiating, and coordinating the delivery of products and services that bring value to customers. 20%          
  • Coordinates the design and engineering of distribution systems that serve New Construction Customers. Assist Customers in making technical design decisions as it pertains to the project.  Estimates and specifies Customer engineering requirements including kW demand loads, metering needs and revenue allowance credits to pertinent our Departments and the Customer.30%
  • Per Tariff, specifies rates and establishes account deposit amounts. Manages and provides associated written documentation and oral communications to the Customer for establishment of electric service. 5%                                            
  • Oversees overall management of project to ensure timely installation of service is completed. 20%
  • Provides Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC) explanations for service options to the Customer.5%
  • Establishes and maintains relationships that builds trust with assigned customers and members of the professional construction community to include customers, corporate decision makers, national and local developers and builders, governmental agencies, consulting engineers, architects and contractors in order to better serve customers’ electrical service needs. 10%
  • Enhances internal relationships with Energy Departments through increased communication, on-going personal interaction, and recognition for direct support in achieving customer satisfaction. Effectively communicate with management, departments and co-workers to continuously improve knowledge and delivery of products and services. 10%
  • Maintains a high level of professional competence through on-going training as it relates to marketing, engineering and product knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: High school diploma
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Required: Valid driver’s license and use of a reliable personal vehicle necessary to perform field activities or attend meetings within the State of Florida.

Preferred: PMP certification

Required Skills:

  • Above average analytical and decision-making skills are needed to perform consulting duties with customer(s) and internal constituents in order to deliver expected services timely.
  • Ability to work independently and have knowledge of company information/systems including the Standard Electrical Service Requirements (SESR), Distribution Engineering Technical Manual (DETM), Tampa Electric Tariff, Avenue, WorkPro and GIS.
  • Above average oral and communication skills in order to present electrical designs, project scope and responsibilities, associated cost estimates (CIAC), and project updates with details to both external and internal entities.
  • Knowledge of the Tampa Electric’s transmission and distribution system design and operation.
  • Ability to read and analyze professional architectural and engineered drawings along with electric utility primary circuit maps. Knowledge of CAD.
  • Comprehension of customer loads and associated diversities, ability to forecast peak kW demand load based on customer presented electrical service requirements.
  • Ability to build consensus among multiple constituents, internal and external, in order to facilitate establishing project scope, direction and timelines.
  • Knowledge of TEC Tariff rates and their application.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient use of mapping services, i.e., Google Maps, Bing.

Preferred:   

  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong application skills utilizing GIS, WorkPro, Avenue, CAD and Microsoft Project.
