Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Information Governance & Data Management Specialist to manage the Enterprise Data Governance Forums & Committees Framework. This framework plays a key role in ensuring Governance teams across the company are well-informed and able to make data-driven decisions. You will be responsible for synthesizing data and research, recommending governance initiatives, developing policies, and guiding improvements in our governance processes.
Responsibilities:
- Governance Forum Management: Lead and manage the Enterprise Data Governance Forums & Committees Framework, ensuring it meets the needs of governance teams for awareness, decision-making, and action planning.
- Data Analysis and Recommendations: Synthesize data and research to recommend information governance initiatives that deliver business value within a specific data domain.
- Policy Development: Develop data domain-specific information governance policies, guidelines, procedures, and communications.
- Assessment and Improvement: Conduct assessments of current governance processes and tools, proposing recommendations for improvement to peers, community, and leadership.
- Metadata Management: Collaborate with internal teams or vendors to maintain accurate metadata information using querying and system tools to generate reports and analyze data.
- Problem Resolution: Anticipate, analyze, and resolve issues effectively, making recommendations and escalating problems as needed.
- Data Domain Knowledge: Acquire and apply knowledge of various business lines, channels, data domains, and their processes to meet Information Governance standards and data management activities.
- Risk & Compliance: Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled by risk and compliance policies.
- Training & Communication: Contribute to the development of training content and communicate governance guidelines, principles, policies, and standards across teams and stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Support the development of multi-year roadmaps and implementation plans for information governance initiatives, focusing on compliance, risk management, and data quality.
- Executive Engagement: Facilitate and manage executive-level meetings, including gathering formal governance materials, capturing meeting minutes, and sending official communications to executives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Data Governance & Management: 4 years of experience in data governance and data management practices, including experience in managing data quality, business rules, and dashboards.
- Risk & Compliance: 4 years of experience with risk frameworks and reporting, with a solid understanding of compliance principles.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in information architecture, Information Management, Information Technology, Risk, Audit, or a related technical field; OR 4 years of related experience may substitute for the degree.
- Experience with Governance Tools: Experience using tools like Alation, GDS, and Salesforce for managing and reporting data governance activities.
- Technical Writing & Communication: Strong technical writing and editorial skills for developing policies, standards, procedures, and business requirements.
- Governance AI: Experience in governance AI is a plus.
Additional Qualifications:
- Strong ability to define, create, and explain business requirements to technical teams.
- Excellent organizational skills, particularly in managing large meetings and coordinating with executives.
- Ability to independently drive governance initiatives and collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.
