Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Alteryx Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Integrated Tax group. The primary responsibility of this role is to replace SAS software with Alteryx for automating and converting over twenty sales and use tax data files, submitted monthly from around 20 Lines of Business (LOBs), into a format ready for import into our tax reporting software, Vertex Returns. With an average of 1,300 sales/use tax returns filed monthly and over $18MM in remittances, any disruption to our process poses significant compliance risk and potential late filing penalties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Alteryx Configuration and Automation: Use advanced Alteryx skills to convert monthly tax data received in Excel format into a single, standardized file format, replacing SAS as the automation tool.
- Data Management Across States: Adapt to varying state filing requirements, ensuring tax data compliance for all submissions.
- Collaboration and Process Improvement: Work with team members on coding allocations, providing guidance to support the automation of manual processes and supporting tax remittance requirements.
- Enhancements and Support: Address enhancement requests from both internal and external stakeholders to further streamline and automate processes for better efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Alteryx Expertise: 2-3 years of SME-level experience in Alteryx configuration, especially in managing multiple input files and automating data from Excel and SAS.
- Data Automation Skills: Proven experience in automating data workflows, including experience with Excel to Alteryx transformations.
- Tax Reporting Knowledge: Experience with tax reporting software such as Vertex Returns is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with tax compliance processes and familiarity with state tax filing requirements.
- Knowledge of tax reporting tools and their integration with data automation solutions.
This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in Alteryx and a solid understanding of tax data requirements, particularly for complex multi-state filings.
