As a Project Designer, you’ll play an important role in keeping SEPTA’s facilities and transit infrastructure safe, reliable, and operating at the highest standards.

We’re looking for an experienced mechanical professional who can bring strong technical knowledge, design experience, and problem-solving skills to a variety of projects across SEPTA’s transit network.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Designer – Bridges & Buildings Facilities, you’ll provide technical expertise supporting the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance of mechanical systems throughout SEPTA facilities.

Your work may include:

  • Designing and troubleshooting mechanical systems at the component level

  • Supporting HVAC, plumbing, piping, fueling systems, and maintenance equipment projects

  • Working with elevators, escalators, and other facility mechanical systems

  • Developing and managing projects from design through implementation

  • Creating and reviewing mechanical designs using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software

  • Applying applicable building codes, standards, and recommended practices

  • Supporting maintenance and troubleshooting efforts when needed

  • Collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and other stakeholders

  • Preparing technical documentation and communicating project requirements clearly

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 11+ years of relevant experience in mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, piping, fueling systems, maintenance equipment, elevators/escalators, or construction

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and their components

  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and industry practices

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar mechanical design software

  • Experience developing and managing projects

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. One year of formal post-secondary education may be equivalent to two years of relevant experience.
