Asphalt Paving Roller Operator

We're hiring a skilled Asphalt Paving Roller Operator to compact and finish hot mix asphalt, achieving optimal density, smoothness, and pavement quality on roads, lots, and infrastructure projects. Collaborate with crews for seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate steel drum and rubber tire rollers (breakdown, intermediate, finish) following patterns and techniques to meet compaction/smoothness specs and prevent segregation, shoving, or cracking
• Monitor mat temperature, roller speed, passes, and timing; coordinate with paver operator and ground crew for uniform sequence
• Adjust water spray systems and drum operations to avoid pickup/sticking; perform daily inspections, fluid checks, greasing, and cleaning
• Report equipment issues, hazards, or unsafe conditions promptly; adhere to safety standards around hot mix and traffic
• Assist with general labor or other paving duties; work extended hours in peak season

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1+ years operating asphalt rollers in paving/road construction
• Prior experience on DOT/commercial jobs with compaction testing/density specs preferred
• Valid driver's license; able to pass DOT physical and drug screening
• Team-oriented with strong attention to detail and safety focus

Compensation $22–$25/hour; 40 hours/week base with time-and-a-half overtime. Discretionary bonuses.
