Job Description

NOW HIRING: Project Manager II – Substation & Transmission Direct Hire | Full-Time Comprehensive benefits effective Day 1

RCS Staffing is placing a Project Manager II – Substation & Transmission with a leading transmission and substation engineering firm. This is a direct-hire opportunity for a driven project management professional ready to own project delivery end-to-end — ensuring quality workmanship, on-time delivery, and efficient use of resources across assigned T&S projects. You will serve as the primary point of accountability between the client and the project team, maintaining the highest standards of business ethics and customer satisfaction.

OVERVIEW OF YOUR ROLE As a Project Manager II, your primary responsibility is to deliver assigned projects within the parameters of quality and schedule that are acceptable to both the client and the organization. You will provide direct project supervision, manage workflow and resources, maintain quality control, and communicate project status to management and clients. This role demands high energy, strong organizational skills, and a proven ability to build and maintain client relationships in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

YOU WILL

  • Own project delivery for all assigned substation and transmission projects — ensuring quality workmanship, on-time completion, and efficient utilization of engineering resources.
  • Provide direct project supervision and manage project workflow from kickoff through closeout.
  • Maintain proper levels of quality control across all assigned project scopes and deliverables.
  • Develop project specifications and implement practices that achieve defined objectives to the satisfaction of the client and management.
  • Communicate project status clearly and consistently to management and to the client; escalate issues proactively.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of utility company policies and procedures in order to communicate effectively with client professional staff.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code and the ability to recognize transmission and substation equipment and associated hazards.
  • Champion core company values and promote the highest standards of business ethics in every client and team interaction.
  • Energetically support the organization's vision and strategy; demonstrate initiative and personal accountability to meet work demands at the highest standard.
  • Safeguard all confidential, sensitive, and proprietary project and client information.

YOU ARE THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IF YOU HAVE

  • An associate's degree or higher in Engineering Technology or a related field — or a minimum of two years of related experience in transmission, substation, or distribution project delivery.
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication; able to present project status, issues, and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with a track record of meeting project schedules in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Demonstrated negotiating and decision-making ability; proven management and business skills.
  • Experience developing and maintaining strong customer relationships with utility clients or related industries.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously while providing leadership and direction to project team members.
  • High commitment to achieving goals, maintaining quality, and delivering results.

IT'S A BONUS IF YOU HAVE

  • Direct experience in the electric utility industry — substation construction, transmission line, or distribution project management background is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of transmission and substation line construction, maintenance practices, and associated safety requirements.
  • Experience managing engineering resources and project budgets across multiple concurrent T&S projects.
  • PMP certification or formal project management training.
