Job Description

RCS Staffing is placing a Lead Electrical Engineer – Nuclear Modifications at Catawba Nuclear Station. This is a contract-to-hire, on-site opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer ready to serve as the responsible engineer on nuclear plant modifications. You will own the full modification lifecycle — from design and calculations through field execution and close-out — while coordinating deliverables across multiple disciplines and providing technical leadership in a safety-critical, NRC-regulated environment.

OVERVIEW OF YOUR ROLE
Reporting to the engineering team lead and working directly at Catawba Nuclear Station, you will serve as the responsible engineer for assigned electrical modifications — owning each modification from initiation through completion. You will design, prepare, and integrate modification packages; coordinate deliverables and schedules across disciplines; and provide technical oversight and guidance on the execution of plant modifications. This is a high-accountability, plant-facing role that requires both strong individual engineering capability and the ability to coordinate effectively across engineering, construction, and operations teams. Travel to client/vendor offices and plant sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification is required.

YOU WILL
● Lead electrical engineering modifications at Catawba Nuclear Station — serving as the responsible engineer from initiation through completion.
● Design, prepare, and integrate electrical modification packages, including engineering calculations, electrical control circuit designs, and supporting documentation.
● Coordinate engineering deliverables across multiple disciplines; manage task schedules and drive modifications to on-time completion.
● Provide engineering oversight of contractor work and supplied materials; make recommendations on acceptability.
● Research technical issues using applicable codes, standards, vendor documentation, and plant design basis materials.
● Perform field verification and support construction coordination at plant site; travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews as required.
● Ensure assigned modifications satisfy nuclear quality requirements and applicable regulatory standards.

YOU ARE THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IF YOU HAVE
● Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
● 3+ years of practical electrical engineering experience in power generation, plant electrical systems, or a closely related field.
● Proficiency with CAD software and Microsoft Office.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills — comfortable presenting technical information across disciplines and organizational levels.
● Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
● U.S. work authorization — candidates must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.

IT'S A BONUS IF YOU HAVE
● Prior nuclear plant experience — nuclear background is highly desirable and will be prioritized.
● Experience with nuclear modification processes including design change packages, 10 CFR 50.59 evaluations, or configuration management.
● Experience leading or coordinating multi-discipline engineering deliverables on a modification program.
● Familiarity with Duke Energy or Westinghouse PWR plant design and documentation standards.
● Experience performing field verification and construction coordination at an operating nuclear facility.
