Job Description

RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Project Engineering Manager – Nuclear in Newport, MI. This is a full-time, direct-hire, site-based assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive base salary range, short-term incentive plan eligibility, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401K with match; paid time off; tuition reimbursement; health and wellness subsidy; and a green home energy benefit.

Overview of YOUR Role as a Project Engineering Manager – Nuclear

Our client is seeking a Project Engineering Manager (PEM) to support Nuclear Generating Stations on site in the Newport, MI area. In this role, you will manage the engineering and design efforts to modify and upgrade existing nuclear power plants — including general plant upgrades, component replacements, electric power uprates (EPU), and other plant enhancements. You will lead the project engineering effort as a liaison between clients, partners, and a team of engineers and designers, working within fully integrated Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project scopes.

As a Project Engineering Manager, YOU Will:

• Provide engineering management and guidance to subordinate staff; enforce company and project policies.

• Plan and manage work activities to ensure successful project execution while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence.

• Demonstrate and provide project leadership in your area of responsibility, often working in conjunction with a Project Manager or above.

• Supervise and delegate tasks among a multidiscipline project staff.

• Monitor day-to-day activities and proactively identify potential project problems or opportunities; analyze issues, develop alternatives, and implement the most effective approach.

• Clearly understand the scope of work, contract requirements, and all requirements pertaining to your area of responsibility.

• Serve as the responsible Professional Engineer (PE) in the state where the work is based.

• Actively manage engineering schedule and cost performance.

• Support or conduct formal status reporting and presentations to clients and/or management.

• Demonstrate knowledge of resources and capabilities of other groups for appropriate incorporation into the project organization.

YOU Are the Ideal Project Engineering Manager Candidate If You Have:

• A B.S. in Engineering from an accredited university.

• A minimum of 12 years of experience working with nuclear plant engineering and design.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

• A Professional Engineering (PE) license in any state, with the ability to be licensed in other states by comity.

• Demonstrated ability to manage the engineering elements of large and complex EPC projects.

• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present to clients and senior management.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and organize work in a multi-tasked environment.

• Basic understanding of project performance metrics (CPI and SPI).

• Experience working with others in a Project Team environment with a strong sense of ownership over engineering work.

• U.S. citizenship — this position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations.

It's a BONUS If You Have:

• Experience with electric power uprates (EPU) on nuclear generating stations.

• Field experience and the ability to perform site walk-downs.

• Multi-state PE licensure.

• Prior experience supporting both conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering and design development on nuclear EPC programs.
