RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Site Safety and Health Officer in Washington, DC. This is a 2-year contract Field Based assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation and holidays.
Overview of YOUR role as a Site Safety and Health Officer
As a Site Safety and Health Officer, you will be responsible for preparing site-specific safety plans, ensuring OSHA compliance, and fostering a positive safety culture across assigned project sites. This role requires an experienced safety professional who can conduct audits, lead incident investigations, and work collaboratively with project teams to create safety solutions while maintaining regulatory compliance.
As a Site Safety and Health Officer YOU will:
· Prepare Site-Specific Safety Plans and Activity Hazard Analysis for assigned Business Unit projects · Ensure compliance to all Safety Policies and adopted Standards
· Ensure personal protective equipment meets applicable OSHA/EPA requirements and employees are trained on proper use
· Conduct Safety Audits of assigned project sites ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised
· Provide safety training to all personnel assigned to project
· Conduct project safety inspections with follow-up inspections of any open items
· Review Subcontractor safety qualifications and attend Pre-Construction Meetings
· Create and evaluate activity hazard reviews
· Ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA and our client's standards and conduct accident and incident investigations
· Develop and implement Corrective Action Plans
· Work with project supervision to create safety solutions to safety problems
· Foster and maintain a positive safety culture for project personnel
· Maintain all safety certifications as required by contracts
· Conduct quarterly safety meetings for Project Staff
· Produce Safety Reports of activities performed
· Lead Incident/accident Investigations
· Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management
· Perform other duties as required
YOU are the ideal Site Safety and Health Officer candidate if you have:
· B.S. Degree in Occupational Safety & Health Engineering or similar field
· Minimum of 5+ years construction industry safety experience on similar projects
· Ability to effectively communicate safety within a project team
· An average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years with training for competent person status for at least the following 4 areas of competency: Excavation, Scaffolding, Fall protection, Hazardous energy, Confined space, Health hazard recognition, evaluation and control of chemical, physical and biological agents
· Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification
· EM385-1-1 40-Hr. Safety Certification
· Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
· Current First Aid & CPR Certification
· NFPA 70E certification for Arc flash training
· Proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills
· Organized and proactive with proven experience in OSHA Compliance
· Skillful communicator in both verbal and written communication
· Excellent writing skills with proper grammar
· Great listener who can communicate professionally and in an open and positive approach
It's a BONUS if you have:
· Additional safety certifications beyond minimum requirements
· Experience with energy or construction projects
· Project management or supervisory experience
