RCS Staffing has an immediate need for an Electric Distribution Designer & Survey Technician in Central Delaware. This is a long-term contract Hybrid Remote assignment with our client (50% field work / 50% remote office work). This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation and holidays.

Overview of YOUR role as an Electric Distribution Designer & Survey Technician

The Electric Distribution Designer & Survey Technician plays a key role in supporting overhead electric distribution projects by combining field survey work with office-based design activities. This position requires regular field visits to collect accurate pole and asset data, followed by detailed design and documentation work to support utility planning, upgrades, and maintenance programs. This is a hybrid field and office role, with approximately 50% field work and 50% design work.

As an Electric Distribution Designer & Survey Technician YOU will:

Field Survey & Data Collection (Approximately 50%):
· Conduct field visits to overhead electric distribution lines and pole locations
· Capture clear photographs of poles, attachments, and surrounding infrastructure
· Take accurate measurements of pole heights, spans, clearances, and equipment
· Verify existing conditions and document discrepancies between field conditions and records
· Record field data in accordance with utility standards and safety requirements

Design & Office Work (Approximately 50%):
· Develop and update electric distribution designs using internal utility software
· Utilize ArcGIS to review, update, and manage spatial and asset data
· Interpret field data and translate it into accurate design documentation
· Support overhead line design activities including pole replacement, attachments, and layout updates
· Maintain organized and accurate project records and design files

General & Technical:
· Use computers and software applications effectively for data entry, design, and documentation
· Follow established utility design standards, processes, and workflows
· Communicate clearly with project team members regarding field findings and design updates
· Support project schedules by completing assigned tasks accurately and on time

YOU are the ideal Electric Distribution Designer & Survey Technician candidate if you have:

· Entry-level experience or training in design, surveying, GIS, or a related technical field
· Comfortable working both outdoors in field environments and indoors in an office setting
· Basic experience with ArcGIS or similar GIS platforms
· Strong attention to detail and ability to collect accurate measurements
· Ability to learn and use internal utility design software
· Strong computer skills for design and documentation work
· Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field sites as required
· Ability to walk uneven terrain and work in varying weather conditions
· Excellent communication skills and ability to work with project teams

It's a BONUS if you have:

· Basic understanding of overhead electric distribution systems
· Previous utility or electric distribution experience
· Advanced GIS skills or certifications
· Surveying or field data collection experience
· Experience with utility design software
