Job Description

RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Resident Project Representative in Kauai and Oahu, Hawaii. This is a full-time contract hire field-based assignment with our client. 

Overview of YOUR role as a Resident Project Representative

Our client is seeking a Resident Project Representative to act as a Field Engineer and support the Resident Engineer on infrastructure projects across Kauai and Oahu. This role includes overseeing construction activities, managing observation teams, and ensuring projects are completed in accordance with specifications and safety standards.

As a Resident Project Representative YOU will:

• Perform daily on-site observation of construction activities and compare work to project plans and specifications

• Prepare reports, coordinate contractor and owner progress meetings, manage shop drawing reviews, and certify contractor payrolls

• Monitor project budgets and ensure team compliance with safety protocols

• Resolve contractor inquiries and provide clarifications on construction documents

• Maintain active client communication and assist with marketing, proposals, and interviews

• Provide leadership and oversight to other Resident Project Representatives, Construction Observers, and Material Technicians

YOU are the ideal Resident Project Representative candidate if you have:

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in engineering and/or construction management projects

• Excellent communication, documentation, and visualization skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)

• Strong knowledge of construction techniques and the ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications

• Proven ability to lead and mentor project field staff

• Capability to support or step in for the Construction Manager/Resident Engineer as needed

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders/scaffolding, and safely work in various weather and site conditions

It’s a BONUS if you have:

• Experience with state DOT construction projects

• Experience supervising other technical staff

• Specialized knowledge in areas such as traffic control (AATSA), material testing (soils/concrete), structural welding, utilities, or bridge/roadway construction
