Job Description

RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Construction Inspector in Harvard, IL 60033. This is a full-time contract-to-permanent hire field-based assignment with our client. 

Overview of YOUR role as a Construction Inspector

Our client is seeking a Construction Inspector to perform on-site daily observation of construction work and ensure it aligns with approved plans and specifications. The role involves physical field testing, documentation, and quality assurance in accordance with Illinois DOT standards.

As a Construction Inspector YOU will:

• Perform daily on-site observation of the contractor’s work and ensure it aligns with approved project plans and specifications

• Document contractor progress and payment in detailed reports

• Conduct field-required testing and inspections

• Assure quality and compliance of contractor work

• Maintain daily inspection logs and communicate discrepancies with relevant project team members

• Operate a company vehicle as needed (must maintain an acceptable driving record)

YOU are the ideal Construction Inspector candidate if you have:

• Associate’s degree in construction management and at least 5 years of relevant experience OR no degree and a minimum of 8 years of applicable field experience

• Experience with IDOT policies and procedures for highway construction field work

• IDOT Construction Documentation Certificate

• Strong communication and documentation skills (Microsoft Word, internet usage)

• Ability to work independently with general knowledge of construction techniques and ability to read plans/specs

• Physical capability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs and navigate construction sites, ladders, scaffolding, and trenches in varying weather conditions

It’s a BONUS if you have:

• Experience with Illinois Tollway and City of Chicago construction projects

• Additional materials certifications (e.g., PCC Level I–III, HMA Level I–III, S-33
